2. Anticoagulants. When it enters the body of an animal, the poison begins to change the processes of blood coagulation, disrupting metabolism. Vitamin K1 is inhibited by an anticoagulant that is identical in structure, as a result of which the liver cannot synthesize prothrombin, which is responsible for coagulation. As a result, all this leads to the death of the rodent from multiple internal bleeding.

Important! Poison from rats must be laid out in rubber gloves, since the human smell can scare animals away from the bait.

The duration of action of anticoagulants depends on their concentration inside the body, but usually the effect is achieved after two weeks.

The advantage of such baits is that rodents not only eat them on the spot, but also drag them into burrows, storing them. Thus, the poisoned grain is eaten by young animals and pregnant individuals, which accelerates the extermination of the population.

Grain lures can be used both outdoors and indoors, spreading in piles of 10-15 grams near water sources, burrows and along paths laid by rats. If the room contains pets, then it is better to place the grain in bait houses. If the mixture is placed in a hole, then sprinkle it with soil on top.

Foam

Rodenticide foam has the appearance of a dense mass that retains its shape for a long time. Manufactured in pressurized cylinders. This bait has a double effect:

• edible, which allows it to work like a regular feed bait;
• fills the gaps and crevices that rodents use, staining their skin and encouraging them to clean it, while eating the poison.

The foam sticks to vertical surfaces and therefore can be used to cover walls and pipes. In this case, contact with the foam is excluded, because it is poured directly from the cylinder. It keeps its shape for about two weeks.

Liquid poison

Rodents require a large amount of water, and therefore the latter is also used as bait. For this, drinkers are installed with water that has been pollinated with poison. It is important that the rodenticide does not dissolve in water and has a low relative density. If the poison is dissolved in water, then the animals recognize it and do not touch the bait. Heavy drugs, which have a high relative density, leave in the sediment and do not harm rodents who drink the upper layer of the liquid.

Gel

Gels are made on the basis of rodenticide, petroleum jelly, talc and attractants with the addition of attractive flavors. Such a poison can cover the entrance to a rodent's burrow or a product. In the latter case, the gel will be eaten even more readily than food. The poison is resistant to temperature changes and light, and does not lose its properties for a long time.

Powders

All available rodenticides are from two generations.First generation poisons have a cumulative effect, and therefore rodents must feed on the poison for several days. Nowadays, most of the baits belong to this group. Poisons of the second generation, such as those containing brodifacum or bromadiolone, lead to the death of animals after a single use.

The following are the most effective rat poisons.

1. Rat Death # 1. It contains only natural ingredients, antifungal and antimicrobial drugs, the combination of which causes suffocation in animals and multiple internal hemorrhages 3-4 days after entering the body.
2. "Help" granules. Created on the basis of bromadiolone, which has a long-term cumulative effect. The active substance constantly accumulates in the liver, which leads to poisoning. The granules contain nutritional supplements that increase appetite in rodents and improve palatability.
3. Ratron granules. A fast-acting substance packaged in individual bags that do not need to be opened. The active ingredient - brodifacum - acts painlessly, leading to the appearance of internal hemorrhages. A single application is enough, after which the animal dies within four days.
4. Tomcat All Weather Bait. It looks like blocks with holes for fitting onto steel rods. It is recommended to use only in conjunction with special stations. Contains difasinon, acts quickly enough, exterminating the population in a week or two.
5. JT Eaton 709-PN Bait. Available in blocks, which are also best used inside stations. The active substance is difasinone. Available in various flavors. It belongs to the first generation anticoagulants.
6. D-Con Rat & Mouse Bait. It looks like a tray with a bait, which must be placed in the habitat of rodents. The active ingredient is brodifacum. An old and proven product that can be mixed with peanut butter or other bait to increase its effectiveness.
7. Just One Bite. It is a single block that is divided into eight equal parts. Contains bromadiolone, which takes effect after 12 hours.

Folk options for baits

Among the folk methods of fighting rodents, the following can be distinguished:

1. Colchicum autumn. It will take 20 g of seeds of this poisonous plant, which must be mixed with 1 kg of flour or cereals and spread in the habitats of animals.
2. Marsh Ledum. Its leaves, which have a strong intoxicating smell due to the high content of essential oils, must be decomposed at the entrances to burrows.
3. Elderberry is black. To protect the seedlings, their trunks should be tied with elderberry branches, which have a strong unpleasant odor.
4. Blackroot medicinal. These strong-smelling plants need to be buried.

How to use poison correctly

Rodenticide baits are used on any site - in homes and hospitals, warehouses and summer cottages. They are also used outdoors - in vegetable gardens, plots and in the fields. The poison is either created independently by mixing the food base with helium or liquid preparations, or using ready-made options. Placed in trays, boxes or special stations in the places of migration and habitat of rodents.

Precautionary measures

Rat poison is also dangerous for humans, however, due to the low concentration in all manufactured products, the possibility of death tends to zero. But intoxication is possible, which is manifested by the following symptoms:
